The new Geismar Track Recording Vehicle will carry out inspection of the Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail (IÉ) network for potential defects.
Currently undergoing the commissioning process, the track recording vehicle, model VMB 2014TM-US, is a modern self-propelled two-bogies bi-directional vehicle. It is specifically designed to measure and inspect the track, rails conditions and is designed for future installation of additional measurement system.
The vehicle includes a remote diagnostic and data recorder system that allows the vehicles location to be pinpointed via GPS. The system reads and records the vehicles operating data using sensors. This data is stored for backup as well as for diagnostics of possible faults.
