RSRG completes key construction works on the Hamburg-Berlin high-performance corridor.
The comprehensive upgrade of Route 6100 is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the German rail network. In Regional Lot 3, the RSRG made a significant contribution to the modernisation and impressively demonstrated its delivery capability.
Under demanding conditions, the route refurbishment was carried out from Falkensee station to Finkenkrug junction and onwards via Brieselang to Nauen as part of DB InfraGO’s vast corridor project, with the RSRG acting as a subcontractor to DB Bahnbau Gruppe GmbH.
The focus was on renewing around 50 points, which are central elements of railway infrastructure and ensure stable, high-performance operations. Eight additional crossover connections were installed. The RSRG’s impressive overall scope also included renewal of the formation protection layer and ballast, track and rail renewal, deep drainage and rail grinding. High-performance construction logistics ensured that materials and equipment were available at all times and that construction processes were efficiently coordinated.
Large machines such as a rail-mounted slewing crane and a high-capacity tamping system were used alongside numerous work machines, including up to eight road-rail excavators at times. Welded joints were also produced throughout the construction section. The organised interaction of a wide range of expertise within the RSRG was a key success factor.
An exceptionally severe winter restricted the construction process and led the client to extend the construction period. Early communication and close coordination among everyone involved nevertheless ensured that delivery remained coordinated and efficient.
The modernised infrastructure improves capacity, availability and operational stability on one of Germany’s most important transport axes, creating direct added value for the customer. With the successful and safe completion of the work, the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group underlines its expertise in delivering complex major projects.
