Modern signalling technology for a key station on the Pottendorf Line.
The reconstruction of Ebenfurth station is creating a modern infrastructure hub. In the first construction phase, the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group (RSRG) is making a significant contribution to the signalling delivery.
Relocating the station by around 150 metres and rebuilding it will enable higher line speeds and bring the infrastructure up to the latest technical standard.
In the first construction phase, the RSRG is delivering comprehensive signalling services. The contract for this phase runs from January to October 2026.
The scope includes installation and cable termination for the new electronic interlocking (ESTW), professional connection and testing of all cables, the installation and integration of new point machines, and signal installation in close coordination with the ÖBB installation team.
A total of 37 points, 66 signals, one electronic point lock and one derail will be installed and connected. Eight speed monitoring devices will also be installed and commissioned, making an important contribution to operational safety. The cabling for 59 axle counters will be connected, as will the remote monitoring cabling for three level crossing protection systems and 32 group cables. All work carried out is tested, documented in accordance with standards and supported through to final commissioning. This ensures that all components function correctly and are integrated smoothly into the overall system.
Despite challenging winter conditions at the start of the project, the cable works were completed on schedule.
Construction phases, logistics and interfaces are coordinated in a spirit of partnership, supported by a high level of specialist expertise and committed collaboration. This is creating a powerful, modern signalling system that meets customers’ increasing requirements for capacity, speed and operational safety.
