The modernisation of the railway line between Götzis and Rankweil has been completed successfully. Extensive track and cable civil engineering works have created infrastructure that will remain high-performing over the long term.
Comprehensive measures were carried out for the customer ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG on the double-track section from km 35.476 to km 41.695 between February and May 2026. The objective was to increase the stability, safety and performance of the connection over the long term.
Important preparatory work – such as excavating the cess walkways – had already been completed in advance. The main works began on schedule at the project start in February. Track 2 was renewed first, followed by Track 1. At Klaus stop, two points were also renewed and subsoil remediation carried out at the same time.
The contract also included cable civil engineering works along the entire route, carried out in close coordination with partner Rhomberg Bau. Cable crossings and signal foundations were constructed on both tracks, and cable troughs were installed.
Another focus was the ancillary work required for the use of large machinery such as track renewal trains. Precise preparation and coordinated processes provided efficient support for the construction activities.
An in-house tamping and profiling machine, a rail-mounted slewing crane and an oscillating rail-grinding machine were also deployed, making an additional contribution to the project’s success.
The scheduled commissioning of both tracks demonstrates how coordinated construction processes, specialist expertise and partnership-based collaboration enable efficient, high-quality delivery. For the customer, the result is a sustainably modernised route with high availability and operational safety – modern, future-proof railway infrastructure.
