Bahnbau Wels once again demonstrates its capabilities with a wide-ranging Deutsche Bahn (DB) project

Bahnbau Wels succeeded in winning this large-scale project contract with the support of a consortium partner. After around two years of construction, the construction section was completed and handed over to the highly satisfied client, DB Netz AG.

The completed works form part of the “Lindau railway hub package of measures”. Alongside the actual works, Bahnbau Wels also held the project and construction management role in this construction project. The storage sidings are situated in the eastern track section of the Lindau-Reutin railway station. Before the new facilities could be constructed, it was necessary to firstly dismantle the track and points, including rail equipment. The disposal work proved to be extensive, entailing the removal of approximately 50,000 tonnes of spoil. Following the completion of the sub-surface works, including drainage and underground cabling, the construction of the new track systems could start. Apart from the tracks, 16 sets of points were also laid in this area, and a connection made  to the existing track. The tamping work to stabilise the newly laid track was largely performed using tamping equipment supplied by Bahnbau Wels and JumboTec. Aside from constructing the new track, the consortium was also tasked with building the new service facilities alongside the storage sidings, including the platform and the water and sewage lines along with the rail crossings. The construction project was completed with the construction of the loading sidings, the access way and the parking spaces.

The outstanding collaboration with DB Netz AG proved its worth yet again, not least because the remit also including the implementation planning phase. The Lindau-Reutin storage sidings were completed and handed over to the highly satisfied client.
